Sales Director

FULL TIME


REMOTE

Founded by chef Dan Barber of Blue Hill and Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Row 7 is a seed-to-table food company dedicated to deliciousness in everything we grow and make. Built by a community of chefs, farmers, plant breeders, and plant eaters, we strive to make ingredients taste better before they ever hit a plate. It’s a collaboration—a cross-pollination—based on a simple premise: flavor can succeed where commodification has failed. We believe flavor can change how we eat and, in turn, how we grow our food. Row 7 launched a line of branded organic vegetables for sale in grocery stores in the Northeast in 2022, expanded nationwide in the fall of 2024, and will introduce ready-to-eat vegetables in early 2025.

JOIN ROW 7

The Sales Director will lead efforts to scale Row 7’s branded produce and expand its packaged foods portfolio into new channels and retailers. This role will have the opportunity to shape Row 7’s retail strategy as we launch Row 7’s flavor-forward premium organic produce into new outlets across the country. They will be at the center of building retail relationships and tailor our go-to-market approach to be successful with new shoppers. Further, they will lead the development of the sales capabilities and team alongside Row 7’s leadership team.

This role reports to Chief Operating Officer.

Location and Work Schedule
  • This position follows a remote or distributed work model within the United States
  • Travel within the United States (30%). 
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth and Market Expansion
Expand Retail Partnerships: Develop and execute sales strategies to establish new retail partnerships, driving nationwide growth in the produce business

Lead Product Launches: Oversee new market and product rollouts, ensuring successful launches aligned with sales objectives

Customer and Partner Management
Manage Key Accounts: Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with retailers and distributors, manage in-market performance, and ensure alignment on goals and and go-to-market strategies

Empower External Partner Teams: Lead external partner training and support, equipping teams with tools and sales materials to meet brand objectives, communicate storytelling, and excel in account management

Revenue Optimization and Financial Oversight
Drive Strategic Pricing: Analyze sales performance, margins, and financial data to inform pricing strategies and revenue projections and broker activities to maximize financial performance

Ensure Financial Discipline: Create and manage budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and maximizing returns on sales investments

Leadership and Collaboration
Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with marketing, commercialization, supply chain, and leadership teams to align forecasts, strategies, and operational plans

Build High-Performance Teams: Lead, teach, and mentor Row 7 team members to embody an entrepreneurial, solutions-focused sales culture. Foster an environment of accountability, creativity, and adaptability. 

Represent the Brand: Promote Row 7 at industry events, customer meetings, and presentations to strengthen partnerships and brand awareness

Experience and Education
  • 8+ years of experience in scaling and expanding start-up sales strategies and growth
  • Bachelor's degree in business or marketing; MBA preferred
  • Strong background in achieving or exceeding sales targets and KPIs
  • Experience with demand forecasting and setting sales targets 
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, financial forecasting, and P&L management
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with team leads, external partners, and team members
  • Ability to organize work, plan, manage multiple projects, and effectively respond to changing priorities
  • Exhibit honesty, integrity, and attention to detail in all aspects of the position.
  • Proficient in CRM, Google, and Microsoft systems, and related accounting software programs related to the seed and produce industry

  • The target pay range for this role is from $125,000 - $145,000 per year

Marketing Copywriter and Content Manager

The Marketing Copywriter and Content Manager for Row 7 will spearhead content creation across our seed, produce, and ready-to-eat portfolios—ensuring that our brand voice is consistent, engaging, and impactful. This role encompasses developing editorial calendars, managing social media, crafting email marketing campaigns, and overseeing retail marketing materials while building and executing a content strategy that drives awareness, deepens engagement, and supports our go-to-market efforts. As Row 7 expands into new markets, this role will collaborate across teams to create targeted messaging and creative assets that resonate with consumers and wholesale, institutional, and retail partners. The ideal candidate is a proficient storyteller with a strong background in content marketing, digital strategy, and brand-building—someone who thrives at the intersection of creativity and strategy and is eager to shape how Row 7’s mission reaches a growing audience.

LOCATION 

  • NY-based, with regular travel to the Row 7 office, farm and restaurant partners, and activations. 
  • Travel within the United States (20%). 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Strategy & Development

  • Collaborate with the Row 7 marketing team to execute a cohesive content strategy that weaves our seed, produce, and ready-to-eat categories together.
  • Research, create, and curate compelling content that highlights our community of plant breeders, farmers, chefs, and food enthusiasts
  • Develop and maintain an annual editorial calendar aligned with product launches and key marketing initiatives
  • Craft distinct yet interconnected storytelling approaches tailored to each category
  • Produce engaging multimedia content, including deep dives, feature stories, and brand narratives
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to enhance content strategy and audience engagement

Social Media Management

  • Lead Row 7’s presence across social channels  with platform-specific content
  • Foster engagement through active community management and real-time interactions
  • Cultivate relationships with food, agriculture, and sustainability influencers
  • Develop and execute paid social media campaigns to expand reach and brand impact

Email & Website Content

  • Create and optimize email marketing campaigns via Klaviyo to nurture and engage subscribers
  • Develop high-impact campaigns that strengthen community engagement and drive sales
  • Manage and update website content to enhance storytelling, education, and user experience
  • Maintain community lists and oversee user-generated content
  • Update website content, including product descriptions and seasonal changes

Marketing Collateral & Copywriting

  • Craft compelling copy for seed catalogs, packaging, and marketing materials
  • Develop messaging strategies tailored to different business portfolios while maintaining brand consistency
  • Oversee the creation of social video, photography
  • Ensure brand cohesion across all marketing materials
  • Create retail, trade show, and consumer-facing materials that reinforce Row 7’s mission

Project Management & Performance Tracking

  • Provide biweekly reports on community engagement, content performance, and growth metrics
  • Manage multiple content projects, ensuring deadlines and goals are met
  • Analyze content effectiveness and refine strategies for greater impact
  • Support additional marketing initiatives as needed

DETAILS

  • Marketing Copywriter and Content Manager is a full-time, year-round position
  • The target pay range for this role is from $90,000 - $105,000 per year
